HFPJC Delegation Visited Greater Bay Area City Shenzhen


From 27 September 2018 to 29 September 2018, Resident Fellow Dr. Andrew Lao and fifteen students of Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College (HFPJC) visited Shude College of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUST), Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI), and several innovative enterprises in Shenzhen.

Through the exchange with students in SUST and TBSI, HFPJCers shared and learned the experiences from the other colleges. During the exchange session at SUST, our students introduced the UM RC 4-in-1 model, HFPJC signature projects such as service learning programmes, and a variety of activities in College, as well as their college life. SUST students also demonstrated their RC life, which focused on the caring system by the mentors from different faculties. TBSI students shared their experiences on entrepreneurship and encouraged HFPJCers to continue study after graduated from UM. They believed that every idea may help bring up connections with enterprises, and they encourage our students to pursue creativity in the Greater Bay Area.

For the enterprise visits, students visited Tencent, DJI, and Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub (E-hub). Tencent introduced the latest development on big data and risk management in the smart city programme. DJI showed the company history and provided opportunities for the students to experience the control of drone. And E-hub colleagues introduced how the innovative companies were founded and funded in the Greater Bay Area. The delegation also visited CASIA-Jusheng (Shenzhen) Intelligent and Big Data’s Sci-Tech Development Ltd., where HFPJCers tried to use an E-pen for calligraphy.

This visit provided an valuable opportunity for HFPJC students to exchange ideas with students from residential colleges in Shenzhen and gain a better understanding of economic development of the Greater Bay Area, which broadened their global vision and helped them to think about Macau’s participation in the planning and construction of this area.
